Civil Engineering Consultant

Requirements:

• BS in Civil Engineering
• Knowledgeable in seismic / wind structural analysis  & design
• Experience with seismic design of various building types 
• Familiarity with Building Codes
• PE or SE highly desirable
• Effective written and oral communication skills

Duties:

• Disaster damage assessment / report preparation 
• Forensic analysis to identify causes of structural failure
• Identify design / construction defect in post-failure analysis 
• Peer review of damage assessment report 
• Recommend best-fit cost-effective damage repair
• Interpret guidelines and policies to recommend damage repair methods
• Interpret guidelines and building code triggers to recommend upgrades
• Assess the need for mitigation measures 
• Prepare cost estimate of repairs
• Effective interface with a variety of individuals and agencies
• Courtroom testimony and/or providing deposition may be needed
